Before you get one
What can it not tell apart?
Small loads that overlap. A phone charger, a router and a lamp all sit in the same few watts, and no amount of processing separates them from the mains alone. Those stay in "Not identified", with the watts shown. The screen never quietly folds them into a named appliance.
Does it work with solar panels?
It measures real power with sign, so export shows as a negative number rather than as consumption. What it does not do yet is split production from consumption behind a single clamp; for that, the clamp has to sit on the right conductor. Ask us with a photo of your panel before you reserve.
Which one do I need, lite or pro?
If a few large machines run one at a time, hum lite names them. If several start together most evenings, or you want to watch a motor drawing more each month, that is hum pro: it has a neural processor on the board, so the model runs in real time. The price page lists both.
Three-phase?
Supported, with three clamps instead of one. Both devices handle it; the two extra clamps are sold at cost. Pick the supply on the reservation form and it comes with the right parts.
Does it work in my country?
The device ships set up for where it is sold: single phase 230 V and 868 MHz radio for Europe, the UK and Turkey; split phase 120/240 V and 915 MHz for the US and Canada. The radio band is a legal matter, not a preference, so it is set before the box leaves. The screen speaks English or Turkish, and you can change that at any time.
Installing it
Do I need an electrician?
For the panel, yes. The clamp goes around the live conductor feeding the house, inside the breaker panel, and the small measuring node sits beside it. That is fifteen minutes for an electrician and not a job to learn on. Hanging the display and pairing the phone is yours: no tools.
Does anything get cut or rewired?
No. The clamp closes around the cable; nothing is cut, and the meter is not touched. The small node is powered from the panel by the electrician.
What if my Wi-Fi is bad at the panel?
The node in the panel does not use Wi-Fi. It talks to the display over its own radio, and only the display needs Wi-Fi, so you can hang it where the signal is good. If the display loses Wi-Fi, it keeps measuring and recording; the phone app is what goes quiet.
What happens in a power cut?
There is a battery in the display. The cut itself is recorded as what it was — a cut, with a start and an end — instead of leaving a hole in the record and pretending the house used nothing.

The phone app
Do I need an account?
No, and there is nothing to sign up for. The app finds the device on your own Wi-Fi and asks it for permission; the wall display shows the request and you tap "Allow" there. That is the whole pairing.
Can I remove a phone later?
Yes. Every phone gets its own key, listed in Settings › Phones on the display. Remove one and that phone stops getting data immediately; the others are untouched.
Does it work when I am away from home?
On the same Wi-Fi it talks to the device directly. From outside, that path does not exist yet. We would rather say that than ship a cloud relay nobody asked for.
Which phones?
One app for Android and iPhone. It is in development with the device; reservations get it at the same time as the hardware.
The record
What is "signed" supposed to mean?
Every hour the device writes one record and signs it with a key that lives inside a chip on the board and never leaves it. Each record also carries the digest of the one before, so records cannot be reordered or removed without the chain breaking. It is evidence you can hand to someone who does not trust you.
What if a record is not signed?
It says so, in those words, on the Record screen: how many records are unsigned and why. An unsigned record is still kept, and it is still not evidence. Marking it is the whole point.
Can I get the data out?
Yes — the record goes to an SD card from the Record screen, with the signatures, so anyone can check it later. It is your data and it is on your device.
Does any of it reach you?
No. Readings stay on the device. We have no copy, which also means we cannot restore one for you. See privacy.
Updates, faults, and us
How do updates work?
The device checks for one, verifies the signature before installing anything, and keeps the old version. If the new one fails to come up, it goes back by itself. You can also turn automatic checks off and install from an SD card.
What if the company disappears?
The device keeps working exactly the same. Nothing it does needs a server of ours: no login, no cloud model, no licence check. The only thing you lose is future updates.
Something is wrong with mine.
The display has a Diagnostics page: radio packets, lost packets, board temperature, free space, and whether the measuring node is being heard. Send a photo of it to info@veltrix.solutions and that is usually enough to tell what is happening.
Who is behind it?
Veltrix, a small company. hum is being built now, which is why this site takes reservations instead of payments.
