Setup
Setting up hum.
Two parts: a sensor at the panel and a hub where you can see it. This is the order, and the one step where you should be careful.

Switch off the main breaker
The consumer unit cover has to come off for the next step. Switch the main breaker off before you touch it.
If an open panel is not something you are comfortable with, stop here and have an electrician do step 2. It takes them a few minutes.

Clip the clamps on
Close one clamp fully around each incoming conductor: one for a single-phase supply, up to three for three-phase. The clamp goes around the insulation, and nothing is cut or rewired. Refit the cover.

Plug in the adapter
The small isolated adapter goes into a normal socket near the panel and into the sensor. It powers the sensor and gives it a voltage reference, so it can measure real power and not only current.

Put the hub where you can see it
Any socket in reach of your Wi-Fi. The radio link to the sensor passes through walls and a metal panel, so the hub does not need to be near it. It is designed to be read from across a room.

Answer the hub's questions
On first start the hub walks you through Wi-Fi, your supply type (single, split or three phase), your clamp size and radio band. Your electricity price is optional. Without it the hub shows energy only.

Connect your phone
Install the app, stay on the same Wi-Fi and tap "Find my hum". The app asks before it looks at your network, finds the hub, and the hub shows your phone's name with Allow and Decline. Press Allow on the wall.
Guest Wi-Fi networks usually hide devices from each other. Put the phone and the hub on your main network.

The first day
Most of the house starts as "Not identified". As things switch on, the hub recognises the kind of machine, marks the line as an estimate and asks for a name. Name each one once. The unidentified share shrinks from there.
